We Alabamians are not quite sure what to do with all this snow and winter weather…this is not NYC where life continues as is despite multiple feet of snow! No, no we in the South close EVERYTHING down when the weatherman even mentions ‘snow’ or ‘ice’. But isn’t that fun?? It’s kind of like being a kid again and getting a snow day from school.
So after our ‘Southern snow storm’ my lovely friend Kelsey and I put on our favorite ensembles in shades of neutral and stepped out into the chilly air! **(Fashion Note: Look on trend this Winter in head to toe neutrals from caramel to winter white to cafe au lait.)
Kelsey is bundled up in her Loeffler Randall patent nude boots, J.Crew black wool skirt, Ann Taylor gray tights, United Colors of Benetton black turtleneck, J.Crew black ruffle sweater, and Zara suede and fur coat. I will have to say the glistening Southern sun helps in this winter weather!
The perfect boots for looking stylish while shielding your feet from the snow and icy puddles.
A Picturesque Winter Wonderland….leads us into a cozy, historic Birmingham building (thanks to our new friends at PayScape Advisors who let us use their incredible office building)…
I had the chance to bust out my vintage dress from Austin, Texas, that I snagged for $10! It was originally a long gown that I had hemmed to a mini dress. With my vintage butterfly sleeve metallic dress I am wearing Rose Gold suede cobalt blue heels from Belk, Simply Vera by Vera Wang nude fishnets from Kohl’s, gold and diamond hoops from Regina in Gus Mayer, vintage rings, and Chloe sunglasses from Saks Fifth Avenue.
I love the way nude fishnets look in the winter. They keep your legs warm (at least in the South they do!) while looking almost like a natural leg with a little interesting texture. Try contrasting textures and prints this winter and even into spring…it’ll make your ensemble automatically look fresh and current!
