Clogs, Platform Clogs….NOT ME!!

A few months ago I was reading one of my favorite fashion blogs, Garance Dore, when I stumbled across a post discussing her hatred for the new emerging trend…clogs.  I was immediately in agreement with her, I mean ewwwwwww….clogs to me are for nurses, gardening, and (no offense) but unfashionable older women.  Like a good fashion blogger I left Garance a comment agreeing with her post & went on with my day.

Fall RTW 2010 Fashion Week Hit.  And my mind was blown away.  I was sooooo very wrong.  Hahaha in the paraphrased words of my friend & former boss, Paul Pelssers, ‘don’t say you’ll never wear a trend, before you know it you’ll have that item in every color!’  Truer words have never been spoken, especially for a diehard fashion obsessed girl like me.  Jumpers, check!  Open toe booties, check!  And now…CLOGS, check!

When my younger sister, Chelsey, emailed me from college inquiring about purchasing a pair of the latest shoe craze, the platform heeled clog, I shrieked with fashion filled joy, “get ‘em, get ‘em”….and that she did!

Chelsey looking so effortlessly cool in her Jeffrey Campbell Charlie clogs….

Chelsey thinking to herself…‘I love my new clogs!’  I mean how could she not!?  They can be worn casually like here with jeans & a white tee, to dinner with a sundress, or even to work with trousers, a button down & a fitted blazer (i.e. Alexa Chung on the cover of British Vogue).

I had to throw in this adorable photo of our Boykin Spaniel, Atom…he kept trying to be in the photo shoot :)

Jeffrey Campbell Charlie Clogs…

And just like me Garance Dore changed her mind!

Megan! SO agree with you on this issue, clogs can start nasty fights here at FIT. Oddly though many people on the streets have not been rocking them, I am hoping this is just due to the weather is now starting to get warmer so they will bust them out soon. I also agree with you on you can dress them up or down and are SO comfy. One of my personal favs for summer is a skinny dark washed jean cuffed with my brown Danskos and a classic RL button down!!

I’m not sure how I feel about them. There are lots of things that other people can rock that I can’t, and I don’t see me in a pair of platform clogs any time soon. But kudos to Chelsea for getting some!! I think I’d break an ankle.

Gurrrrrrrrlllll, rock them clogs. Their hot and errrbody watching it knows it. I know their hot cuz a sista is about to buy me some for the summer. Mine are platform, peep toe, ivory colored with an ankle strap. Clogs are sexy –powerful and believe me, put on a semi mini skirt, some lace socks and watch the men folk loose their natural minds. The key is socks.…rock the really pretty girly socks and its otay.

Comfortable too. Especially if you get the ones that have cushion.

P.S. 4 or 5″ clogs are wayyyyy more comfortable than stilettos.
