Doo.Ri Chung has had her work cut out for her the last few months. Not only did she have a baby, dress Michelle Obama for a state dinner in October, design her Franz Kline-inspired collection for New York Fashion Week, but she also designed an affordable collection for the modern woman for Macy’s contemporary “Impulse” department.
The Doo.Ri collection will debut at Macy’s on Wednesday, February 15th. She is following in the footsteps of other famous designers with her collaboration, such as Karl Lagerfeld and Matthew Williamson.
The collection will encompass this season’s bright and vivid jewel tones, paintbrush prints, and Doo.Ri’s signature jersey draping. In an interview with Stylelist.com, “Jersey is a very forgiving fabric,” she explains, “I think people are too concerned with being size-specific. I have worn everything from a 0 to an 8. I love to wear things over-sized, there’s nothing sexier than a big sweater with a hint of shoulder.”
The affordable price point of the collection ranges from $39 for a tee, $69 for pants, $49-$89 for dresses, $89 for patterned trench coats, and $159 for jackets. Doo.Ri stated, “ I want to dress a modern woman, and if I can give them a different price point, then that’s great.”
With color being a main focus for Spring 2012, I especially love her bright patterned trench coats. As stated on Stylelist.com, “I knew I needed to have a draped dress and a trench,” Chung explained at the launch of her new collection. “Those are my two basics.”
Macy’s is looking to have a busy and successful Spring, with the anticipated Doo.Ri collection and the recent announcement of the newest designer collaboration with Alberta Ferretti that will debut on April 17. Check back later for more information on that exciting collaboration.
Doo.Ri’s collection will for sure be a success, so make sure to shop at Macy’s before the collection sells out!
