Best Dressed of the Oscars

Drumroll please.…

…Here are our picks for Best Dressed at the 2015 Academy Awards!

Megan’s Picks:

Untitled
After stunning & shocking us with her role in Gone Girl, it was only fitting that the beautiful Rosamund Pike wear a striking color like red to the Oscars. The Givenchy dress allowed her silhouette to speak for itself, and the minimal accessories gave it an effortless look.

US-OSCARS-ARRIVALS
While this Dior Haute Couture gown is not a dress most women could pull off, style icon Marion Cotillard rocked it with ease and chicness. What sold the overall look was the interesting back details and statement making earrings.

Oscar winner Julianne Moore is the queen of knowing how to dress for her age & her body, while still maintaining an on trend and fresh look. I normally hate strapless gowns, but this one was impeccable.

Laura’s Picks:

Dakota Johnson in a Saint Laurent dress, Forevermark Diamonds jewelry, and Bally bag. While her looks this awards season have been a real tour de force, this look takes the cake! It’s elegant and effortless, and is paired perfectly with her accessories.

Emma Stone in Elie Saab Haute Couture.  Emma glows in this gown. It gorgeous, but she really bring a touch of Old Hollywood glam with her minimal accessories and hair style, making this beautiful look exceptional.

Zendaya in Vivienne Westwood.  Zendaya, who knew?? Everything about this look is glamorous and perfect. The off the shoulder silhouette and draping is flawless on  her petite frame.

Matt’s Picks:

RosmundOscars

Rosamund Pike in custom Givenchy Haute Couture

I love everything about this look. Rosamund Pike looks exquisite from head to toe. The dress is right, the hair is right, the makeup is right, and the jewels are right. Many people were expecting her to pull out a little more of fashion forward number; however, this classic silhouette in a knock-out color was the absolute right choice. She may not have won the Academy Award, but she definitely won the red carpet.

Lady Gaga in custom Azzedine Alaïa, with Lorraine Schwartz jewels

Okay, I’m putting this on my best dressed list with one caveat — the gloves. Though they give the look that interesting “Gaga” twist, they look like she’s about to wash dishes and they hide her jaw-dropping new engagement ring. That being said, Gaga looks stunning. The custom Alaïa dress took 25 seamstresses 1200 hours to create, and it is the first dress Mr. Alaïa has ever sent down the Oscars’ red carpet. True to Alaïa’s work, the dress fits her beautifully.  Her hair and makeup are absolutely perfect; the red lip adds the perfect pop, and the hand-painted orchids in her hair are divine. If only I could put her breathtaking performance on my best dressed list as well!

Eddie_Redmayne_1

Eddie Redmayne in Alexander McQueen

Eddie Redmayne was a double winner last night, taking home the Academy Award as well as a best dressed honor. His Alexander McQueen tux fits him beautifully and navy was a perfect choice. The slippers were another nice touch and really elevated and set his look apart from the other men on the red carpet. Well done Eddie!
