Celebrities really stepped up their fashion game at the 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards. Choosing a top 5 was very hard for the Southern Femme team, but there are a few that stood out far above the rest. Here are our Best Dressed of the Golden Globes:
We all voted on 12 Years a Slave’s Lupita Nyong’o as our best dressed! She absolutely slayed in this red Ralph Lauren gown and cape. Nyong’o has recently made a name for herself as a fashion superstar, and none of us see her fading any time soon. We also loved that she was channeling Gwyneth Paltrow’s iconic Tom Ford look.
Our other favorite from last night’s award show–Cate Blanchett! She is one of those celebrities who can do no wrong, both in fashion and film. She won the Globe for her flawless performance in ‘Blue Jasmine,’ and we feel that she deserves another award for her performance in this black lace Armani creation.
Emma Watson was our final femme on our joint Best Dressed List. Red was definitely the color of the night at this year’s Globes. Watson was stunning in a flawless Dior gown and pant combo designed by Raf Simons. Normally we would not support such a fashion forward choice at an awards show of this caliber, but we can’t fault Watson when she looks this gorgeous, not to mention age appropriate.
While Emma, Cate, and Lupita took home our best dressed gold stars, there were a few more that we each loved.…
Not only do I adore Kerry Washington as an actress and TV style icon (Olivia Pope on Scandal. Enough said.), but I also love her personal style! I applaud her for staying true to her chic style with a growing belly! The custom made Balenciaga gown in pale green with a vintage broach was utter perfection.
Another show I love for the fashion is Mad Men. And while Elisabeth Moss’s character, Peggy Olsen, may not be the most fashion forward, in real life Moss is spot on. This J.Mendel beaded gown seems a tribute to Great Gatsby with its Art Deco flair.
Ladies, take note, this is how you rock a baby bump. There were a few pregnant celebs on the red carpet tonight, but Olivia Wilde outshines them all in a stunning beaded emerald Gucci gown.
I don’t know if I’m the only one, but I pay just as much attention to the men as I do the ladies. Chris Pine looked incredibly dapper last night in a Burberry suit and his scruff accented his look quite nicely.
Allison Williams chose a gown from the Alexander McQueen spring/summer 2014 collection. I love this classic look with a twist.
Michelle Dockery chose a gown from the Oscar de la Renta spring/summer 2014 collection and accessorised with Bulgari jewelry. I love the asymmetrical hemline and the monochromatic hues.
