Man Repeller X PJK

By Southern Femme Fashion Assistant, Becca Griffith

By now, everyone knows that we at Southern Femme LOVE new collaborations!   There’s a new one in particular that has especially struck a cord with us.  Leandra Medine, blogger and founder of the popular site, http://www.manrepeller.com, has teamed up with designer label Patterson J Kincaid for a cool new capsule collection.

For those of you who don’t know, man repelling is all the rage.  What does it mean exactly?  The definition Leandra gives is:  outfitting oneself in a sartorially offensive mode that may result in repelling members of the opposite sex. Such garments include but are not limited to harem pants, boyfriend jeans, overalls (see: human repelling), shoulder pads, full length jumpsuits, jewelry that resembles violent weaponry and clogs.

The blog was started about 3 years ago, and it was an instant success.  Leandra’s writing is not only witty, but it is extremely intelligent– which I believe has majorly contributed to her success.  Since then, Leandra has not only maintained her quirky sense of style, she has also taken part in multiple collaborations, ad campaigns, and she’s writing a book.  Needless to say, she’s a busy girl!

PJK, on the other hand, is known for chic and feminine designs with a lot of sophistication.  Blend the two and what do you get?  Flirty dresses in cool prints, graphic tees, moto style vests, and you can’t forget the overall dress!  The collection stays true to what PJK embodies, yet has the interesting twist of one of the most creative women in fashion– and all at an affordable price point!
