NOLA Fashion Week

camilyn-bethBy: Laura Foster, Southern Femme Fashion Assistant

From Paris to New York to London To Milan, it’s that time of year again, when Fashion Weeks are occurring across the globe and there aren’t enough hours in a day to spend pouring through all your favorite designers’ SS14 collection. While the big cities in Fashion Week are clear, there are several amazing fashion weeks in the South that will give you that haute couture feel with a really unique twist, leaving you in awe and wanting more. One of my favorites is New Orleans’ Fashion Week starting this Saturday, September 29th!

One of our favorite designers showing at NOLAFW is Camilyn Beth Leavitt, better known as “Cami.” Since premiering in Spring of 2012, Cami’s stylish ambition has set the pace for a collection that is not only as unique as the designer is, but unique to the runway. After traveling the globe and working in various places, such as Sweden, she came back to the states and launched her own line. Cami believes a woman feels her best and most confident when she is loved. Each garment’s purpose is to be more than just fabric. Between the thought put into the design, the dedication to local craftsmanship, the story behind the brand, and the inspirational quote sewn into each piece, the Camilyn Beth woman will feel love when wearing CB.

Lucky for us here at Southern Femme, Cami was kind enough to take the time and answer a few questions about her latest line.

SF: What inspired you this season?

Cami: This SS14 collection, it was inspired by the mid century modern silhouettes and tropical bold color blast.

SF: What do you love about your collection?

Cami: I love that women wear Camilyn Beth to special occasions in their life. It makes me so happy to see my dresses at weddings, showers, graduations, first dates, and holiday parties. I also love that everything is made in the USA.

SF: What’s your favorite piece?

Cami: I love them all! There is a sweet little white dress that I am so excited about.

SF: Is there anything you’re hoping people will take away from your show?

Cami: I hope they picture themselves having a fabulous time in my dresses.

SF: What are you looking forward to about NOLAFW?

Cami: Getting to share my designs with more people while having my family and friends there to support me.

Don’t miss Camilyn Beth’s show Sunday, September 29 at 5:30 at 920 Union Street! NOLAFW has an amazing collection of events going on during the week. Don’t forget to check out the schedule to see all the events!
