The Finale: Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week

William Tempest

WOW. My last day of fashion week…tear, tear.  But what a phenomenal experience and I can’t wait to attend the Fall 2011 shows in February!!  I hope you’ve enjoyed my reporting for Southern Femme & Birmingham Magazine…to me it’s all about sharing the world of fashion with my fellow Southerners! So enjoy my last 2 shows of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week & make sure to leave me with a few comments on your thoughts for Spring 2011!

AT THE WILLIAM TEMPEST PRESENTATION AT LINCOLN CENTER

William Tempest

William Tempest is one of the hottest young British designers on the fashion radar right now…take a sneak peak into his Spring 2011 collection!  Full of architectural, luxurious, modern, and even experimental dresses, jumpsuits, and corseted goodness, this collection felt SO FRESH & relevant!  The powdery color palette of coral-orange, magenta, nudes, and even lemon was completely on trend.  The models were made other worldly with white makeup & sleek up-dos…all in all this show was breathtaking & he is definitely a designer to watch!

Haha every time I ask someone to take my picture to document my outfit they manage to cut off my feet…an important part of a ‘fashion’ photo…Oh well!  On my last day of fashion week I was sporting an Alexander Wang black tee, Kate Moss for Topshop sequined cardigan, black Theory menswear harem pants, Alexander McQueen skull print scarf, Elizabeth & James wedges, and Marc Jacobs Collection bag.

AT THE WES GORDON SHOW AT THE EMPIRE HOTEL

Wes Gordon

FAVORITE COLLECTION OF FASHION WEEK. HANDS DOWN. LIKE NO IFS, ANDS, OR BUTS THIS WELL EDITED COLLECTION OF DECADENT, LUXURIOUS, FEMININE PIECES COULD COMPRISE MY ENTIRE WARDROBE & I’D NEVER COMPLAIN AGAIN ABOUT HAVING NOTHING TO WEAR!

And wouldn’t ya know Wes is a fellow Southerner!  Born & raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Wes studied design at the prestigious Central Saint Martins in London.  He had the amazing opportunity to work under Oscar de la Renta & Tom Ford…2 of the industries best!

This collection that I am sharing with you in its entirety is only the 2nd collection Wes has shown at fashion week, and wouldn’t ya know he’s already selling his pieces at various Saks Fifth Avenues & at Harrods in London!! OHHHH and he’s been voted by numerous industry critics as the next big womenswear designer!

So lesson here ladies…watch, learn, and then buy you a Wes Gordon piece!
